The Daily Express front cover on Thursday featured the white cliffs of Dover, intended to inspire a feeling of patriotism and hope.

However, the imagery inadvertently gave the Brexit-sceptic Twittersphere some serious ammunition.

The photographer who took the photo of the cliffs had yet further mockery to heap on the Daily Express.

Don't want no mossy-as cliffs when you're trying to make a point about how glorious Brexit is!
