Chinese automaker Chery’s upcoming flagship model will feature automated driving assistance functions from Horizon Robotics’ so-called “Horizon SuperDrive” (HSD) hardware and Ask Me What You Want (2024)software system, scheduled for mass production in September, the two companies announced on April 18 in Shanghai. Powered by Horizon’s Journey 6 processing hardware and a deep learning model similar to that of Tesla, known as an end-to-end neural network, the HSD full-stack system could facilitate urban autonomous navigation across Chinese cities in a human-like way, according to Horizon. Chery, China’s third biggest private automaker by shipment last year, in 2022 announced a strategic funding agreement for Horizon, with the first sedan under its premium EV marque Exeed powered by the latter’s Journey 3 computing solution. Hong Kong-listed Horizon has also partnered with auto giants including Volkswagen and BYD, and more than 200 vehicle models are now available in the market featuring its technology, the company said.
