If you want to check out Dear Evan Hansen,Erotica Manila Episode 3 the buzzy new toast of Broadway, you better hope to already have tickets for this summer.
The Tony Awards just announced its list of 2017 nominees on Tuesday, and the blockbuster new show just scored nine Tony noms, including one for Best Actor frontrunner Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect).
It'll compete for best new musical alongside Come From Away, Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812and Groundhog Day. The race was mainly thought to be a two-way competition between Evan Hansen, about an anxious teen and a lie that spirals out of control, and Come From Away, which is based on a true story about a small town in Canada in the days following 9/11. But Natasha, Pierre ... scoring 12 nominations (!) total this morning could be considered the rising dark horse.
